I feel very blessed to have found education and believe that when teaching I am in my element.   I have found a career that makes me laugh every day, I am constantly challenged and learn from my students in too many ways to count.

I was born in Indiana but moved to South Dakota when I was young.  It's home to me.  There is nothing like the feeling of flying back to Sioux Falls and seeing the patchwork quilt of farmland below.  I know this is where I belong.

I grew up in Beresford,  attended college in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated with degrees in Advertising Journalism and Family and Consumer Sciences.  After working at the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls for 15 years I was ready for something new.

Teaching and I soon found each other.  I completed my degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education in my late 30's and my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Education a few years later...both at SDSU.   I was a FACS teacher in Baltic for 18 years before joining Washington High School

I live on a small acreage just outside of Sioux Falls with our two dogs and 14 chickens. My husband Tom and I have three children:  Kyle, Alex and Micah and have been blessed with the care of several foster children.   We have lots of family spread from coast to coast but also enough here in South Dakota to fill our home on holidays.

I am a biker, scrapbooker, flower grower and love to bake.  Traveling is a passion and my family and I have lots of world travel left on my bucket list.  We enjoy family game nights, movies and riding scooters and motorcycle together.
